The Sorors of Omicron Xi Omega Chapter of Montclair, New Jersey cordially invite you to the 2017Cluster IV Founders’ Day Luncheon and Rededication Ceremony. This joyous celebration of the founding of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the beautiful Short Hills Hilton, 41 John F. Kennedy Parkway in Short Hills, New Jersey.
Our theme is “Through the Years: A Legacy of Polished Service.” We are pleased that our own Madame Regional Director, Soror Meredith L. Henderson, will grace us as the keynote speaker. The attire for the luncheon is uninterrupted white. Please remember that no hats or pants are permitted during the Rededication.
The cost of the luncheon is $85 for Graduate Sorors and $65 for Undergraduate Sorors. Registration is only available online at www.akanorthatlantic.org. Click on “Cluster IV Founders' Day Celebration.” (Golden Sorors may request paper registration.) Early registration is available until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017. Late registration carries a $25.00 late fee and ends at 11:59 p.m. on February 3, 2017.
For your comfort, rooms are available at the Short Hills Hilton for Friday, February 10, 2017. The group rate is $149/per night for a single or double, $159/night for a triple and $169/night for a quad. Self-parking is free and the hotel provides a shuttle for those of you who may want to shop at The Mall at Short Hills (across the street from the hotel). Be sure to mention code “AKA.” The deadline for hotel reservations is January 21, 2017.
The luncheon theme speaks to our long and polished history of service. With that in mind, and in keeping with our Family Strengthening Program Target, we ask you to support the New Jersey Child Protection and Permanency Agency (CP & P). The CP & P serves 600 children and their families. Each chapter is asked to bring a minimum of 10 one-gallon zip-lock bags containing a toothbrush and 8oz. sizes of toothpaste, soap or kid’s shower gel, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, washcloth, and a pack of Kleenex tissues and/or a minimum of five boxes of pampers or pull-ups in any size.
In addition, we request that each chapter by January 31, 2017:
1. Select a chapter member to be honored at the luncheon as their Distinguished Soror.
2. Submit a group photo of their Charter Members for display during the luncheon.
3. Submit contact information of 2 or more Sorors willing to sing in the Polished Pearls Ensemble.
4. Request a time to take a photo with the Regional Director.
