    On November 11, 2011, Pi Mu Omega Chapter will be honored by the Willingboro Public Library for annually sponsoring the African American Read-In at the library and making an impact in the community by sponsoring a number of service events and programs that have made a difference in the lives of the residents of Willingboro and the surrounding community.  This tribute to Pi Mu Omega Chapter will take place during the library’s 50th Anniversary Gala.  Other honorees are:  State Senator Diane Allen, Assemblyman Herb Conaway, Nu Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and the Burlington County Times.>

    On December 4, 2011, Pi Mu Omega Chapter will be presented with a Community Service Award by the Southern Burlington County NAACP.  Pi Mu Omega Chapter is being recognized for its significant and untiring work in the Burlington County community.  The presentation will take place at the organization’s Freedom Fund Dinner.

    Due to the overwhelming response to this year's Cluster Conference, we had to change the venue.  The new location of the Cluster I Conference is Turf Valley;
    2700 Turf Valley Road;  Ellicott City, MD 21042 .  If you booked a room at the Sheraton Annapolis, the room will be canceled without any penalties.   You may book a room at the Turf Valley by calling  410-465-1500 or 1-888-833-8873.  The room rates are $134 per night for two queen beds and $156 per night for a king bed.  Reservations must be made by Friday, October 7, 2011.  

    Sorry for any inconvenience the change in location may cause, but we wanted to accommodate everyone who wanted to attend Cluster.  See you on the 15th!

    Nu Xi Omega Soror Barbara McEachin-Burton received the 2011 Survivor Volunteer of the Year Award at the Sisters Network of Central New Jersey, Incorporated 11th Annual Health Summit and Buffet Breakfast held on September 11th, 2011.

    Soror Barbara is a four year breast cancer warrior. She has been employed at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-New Brunswick campus as a Registered Nurse for over thirty-one years. She currently holds the position of Performance Improvement Coordinator.

    In addition to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Soror Barbara is also an active member of the Sisters Network of Central New Jersey (SNCNJ) and the Central New Jersey Links. She is the president and charter member of The New Brunswick Black Nurses Association, Incorporated and a proud member of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens. The SNCNJ is one of Nu Xi Omega’s partner organizations.

     Barbara is the nursing outreach coordinator for the Sisters Network free health screening project. By working very closely with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, she convinced them to donate their health screening team to the Sisters Network Health Summit for the past four years. This has been a huge cost savings for the SNCNJ.

    Barbara is a mother of three adult sons. She is affectionately known as GiGi to her two grandchildren Aaliyah and Christian.

    Registration for the 2011 Cluster II Conference is now open!

    For over a century, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has endeavored to provide time-tested and true servant leadership. Our Fall Cluster Conferences will provide an opportunity for all sorors to become better acquainted with the signature program initiatives related to “Global Leadership Through Timeless Service”, as outlined by our Supreme Basileus, Soror Carolyn House Stewart.

    Under the leadership of Soror Constance R. Pizarro, North Atlantic Regional Director, Phi Beta Omega chapter will host this year’s conference on Saturday, October 29, 2011. We look forward to welcoming you to King of Prussia, PA as we come together to “Strengthen Our Commitment to Timeless Service, Sisterhood and Leadership”. The conference will offer breakout sessions for Basilei, Grammati/Anti-Grammati, Parliamentarians and First-Timers. These sessions will provide an opportunity to further ensure that our region and sisterhood remain strong.
