Soror Althea Gibson To Be Honored WIth US Postage Stamp; Sorors Invited To Dedication Ceremony

On August 23, 2013,the Postal Service™ will issue the Althea Gibson (Forever® priced at 46 cents) First-Class mail® commemorative stamp in one design in a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) pane of 20 stamps (Item 470800). The stamp will go on sale nationwide August 23, 2013.

The U.S. Postal Service® honors tennis great Althea Gibson (1927-2003) with the 36th stamp in its Black Heritage series. The first black player to win one of the four major singles tournaments, Gibson twice captured Wimbledon and the U.S. Championships (now known as the U.S. Open) and became the top-ranked player in the world. In the stamp art, artist Kadir Nelson depicts Gibson at Wimbledon. Art director Derry Noyes designed the stamp.

Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha are invited to attend a special dedication ceremony to celebrate this historic occasion on August 24th.  The ceremony will be held in Newark, NJ and be hosted by the honorable Joseph DiVencenzo, Jr., Essex County Executive and RSVP is required.     I just visited the section of the web site for the invitation to the Althea Gibson special dedication ceremony on Aug. 24th and I did not see the invitation. Please guide me again or perhaps send the link. Thanks so much.
